Southernmost Hospitality at our Key West Guest House
Welcome to the southernmost guest house in the United States. At our Key West guest house, we offer southernmost hospitality, and since the late 1800s, we’ve gone to great lengths to make stays here an absolute pleasure. In fact, in 1894, when Cuban cigar-maker Eduardo H. Gato realized the handsome, rambling Victorian home he had built was not getting the right sun exposure on his favorite porches, he moved the house across the street! He had the huge structure rolled across the street on logs pulled by mules and he rotated the house to create the most favorable mix of sun and shade.
You’ll thank Eduardo H. Gato. Today, his decision to move the house to its current location makes for an enjoyable experience for the many guests who relish in the house’s breezy, shady porches. Since the home’s original address – 1327 Duval Street – remains, it’s still the only home on its side of Duval Street with an odd number, and just one more reason it’s so unique.
There are countless ways to spend a day in the Southernmost City, but after you start your day with a fresh breakfast on the veranda, you may have no desire to leave the guest house! Why leave the property when you can relax in our private garden, bask in the sun in one of our five hammocks, or soak in our new pool-size Jacuzzi? From our balconies, you’ll enjoy ocean breezes and views of the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean. You can lounge poolside and gaze into a neighboring butterfly and nature conservatory, or put your toes in the sand at South Beach, which is just a half-block away, and we’ll provide the beach towels.
Our Key West inn is located on the quiet end of world-renowned Duval Street. Our white, Victorian Key West guest house is surrounded by tropical foliage. Tall, mature palms grace the second story porches, and bright, exotic orchids dot the property.
